About us

 Information Resource Center "Window on America" is functioning with financial aid of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv in the National library of Ukraine for children. The mission of our center is to promote mutual understanding between Ukraine and the United States.

 

Our priorities:

  • Providing an open access to the information on the U.S. history, government, society, politics,economics, business, cultural life and education; 
  • Stimulation of self-education and assistance in learning English with proprietary language-learning program Rosetta Stone and information resources of the Centre; 
  • Organization of cultural life for the library users with the help of a basic set of books, databases, CD-ROMs and video collection purchased by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv; 
  • Hosting (conducting) lectures, discussions, contests to stimulate interest in history, culture, traditions of the USA and designed to bring Ukrainians and Americans closer together; 
  • Serving as focal points for U.S.  assistance and exchange programs; 
  • Conducting American cinema club where visitors watch and discuss movies from our collection of documentaries, feature films, cartoons and classical American films
